Augusta is known for golf, but did you know Augusta is also home to the Professional Disc Golf Association? Better known as the PDGA, it is the governing body behind Disc Golf. They are in charge of maintaining the rules and player rankings. 

 

What is disc golf? It is extremely similar to regular golf with a ball in clubs, but instead, players use a flying disc to achieve “holes” in standing nets throughout their courses.

 

Being the home of the PDGA comes with perks, such as the CSRA having many world class disc golf courses to visit for leisure and official games. Here are just a few:

 

Patriots Park – This course is located in Evans, GA and has a nice mix of wooded and open play.

 

Fort Gordon Disc Golf Course – Not for the faint of heart, the Fort Gordon Marine/Navy Disc Golf Course comes with elevation changes of up to 1000 feet.

 

Riverview Park Disc Golf Course – This course in North Augusta features a wooded but short front 9, and a longer but wide open back nine. 

 

Langley Pond Disc Golf Course – Bring your backup disc for this 7141 foot course! It’s heavily wooded with water in play on many of the holes.

 

Pendleton King Park – This course in the heart of Augusta is comfortably shaded with concrete tees and multiple pin positions.

 

Lake Olmstead Park – Featuring easy access from the park’s main entrance and paved walkways, it’s easy to see why this was the site of the 2006 PDGA World Championship finals.

 

Boyd Pond Park – This short course sits on the site of a former classic golf course and it has two ponds for an added challenge.
